Our revised Terms of Service make it easier to join Gratipay.

When we rebooted as Gratipay 2.0 last year, we let go of our original focus on giving to individuals, in favor of giving to groups. We called these groups “Teams,” and we required that they offer what we called “open work.” From our old Terms of Service:

Open Work means that the Team provides a clear path for any individual to voluntarily begin contributing to the Team’s work and to share in any revenue the Team generates.

Today we are announcing new Terms of Service that rename “Teams” to “Projects,” and remove the open work requirement. We still believe in open work, but our new goal is to onboard a million projects with 10% offering open work, instead of ten thousand with 100% offering open work.

Here’s a comparison of the old and new Terms, and here’s all the details of how we got from one to the other. As always, we welcome your questions and feedback privately via email, or publicly on Twitter or GitHub.

Thanks for continuing to use Gratipay under our new Terms of Service! 💃
