Update: We have disbursed 98.8% of the total volume that we processed.

Gratipay (formerly Gittip) stopped processing new payments a year ago, but about $100,000 of the $1,000,000 total that we processed, or about 10%, has remained in our escrow. It is lots of small amounts and a few larger amounts:

Now we are paying out as much of that money as we can, primarily via PayPal—so don’t be alarmed if you see a payment come through. Payouts will come from paypal@gratipay.com, and you can respond to that address or email support@gratipay.com for help.

Thanks!

FAQ

Who paid me this money? For what?

All payments on Gittip/Gratipay were anonymous, so we can’t tell you who exactly paid you. If you like, we can tell you how many people paid you and when. As to what they paid you for, it was probably your awesome and inspiring open source work! :)

You used the wrong PayPal address. Can you send it <here> instead?

Sure! Let us know at support@gratipay.com. Thanks!

This is the first time I’ve heard from you. Why didn’t you contact me sooner?

We did not have an email address on file for you. As a last resort, we harvested email addresses from GitHub and other social accounts in order to flush as much money out of the system as possible.

I have never heard of this. I don’t remember ever signing up for this.

Rest assured that we did not collect money for anyone unless they signed up for an account. We’re happy to provide more details about your account, please email support@gratipay.com.
